I'm a 37 y/o female with a long face. My two core complaints about my appearance is my crooked nose (which is slanted to the right) and my long philtrum (nearly 20 mm). I often consider getting one or both fixed, but I AM worried about function/ nerve damage. I also know that the lip lift might change the shape of my nose and a nose job might shift the philtrum, putting me in a catch 22. Which procedure is suggested to do first and how long should one wait between procedures?
Answer: There is no correct answer to your question. You should do whichever bothers you most first or both at the same time A proper lip lift will not alter your nose and the same goes for a rhinoplasty affecting the lip. We can also perform a lip lift and rhinoplasty at the same time. That way you don’t go through two healing periods. The only part of rhinoplasty that should not be done at the same time as a lip lift is alarplasty, but from your photo, you do not need an alarplasty.

Answer: Lip lift and rhinoplasty Hi @Dazzling318849. This is a great question. I recommend to get them done on the same day. Best of luck to you, Dr. Nima!

Answer: Rhinoplasty Hello Dazzling318849, Lip lift leaves visible scarring which can be hidden only in advanced aged patients. Personally, I would recommend getting rhinoplasty and fat injection into your lips especially to top lip to get a more harmonious appearance. All these surgeries are complex and open for complications therefore need to make an extended research before undergoing actual surgery. Best Wishes

Answer: Rhinoplasty and Lip Lift When my patients are considering making changes to their nose and pairing that with a lip lift I advise them to perform the rhinoplasty first because as you mentioned, the rhinoplasty lengthens the margin between your upper lip and your nose when making changes to the tip and columella. A lip lift post rhinoplasty shouldn't change the shape of your nose considering I perform open rhinoplasties which allows me to control many variables and reinforce all of the structures so that it is a nose for life. I recommend waiting at least a year in between procedures since it can take a year or longer for the nose to fully heal from a rhinoplasty. Going forward, I would recommend you to complete multiple in office consultations with board certified experts to discuss your ideal aesthetic goals. This way, they can better assess your face and create an ideal treatment plan for you. Best of luck, Kian Karimi MD, FACS

Answer: Lip lift or rhinoplasty first? Hi, thanks for your question. You could combine these two procedures into one surgery, which would reduce your recovery time overall. Or alternatively, I would start with the area of the face that bothers you most, and do that surgery first. If your nose is bothering you more then I would start with rhinoplasty. After your rhinoplasty procedure you can then see whether you want something permanent like a lip lift or if you prefer to try fillers first to see if that might achieve your desired look. I highly recommend that you book an in person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon in order to discuss all of your options.
