Lip filler has migrated 3 times… is it possible that my lips just don’t tolerate it?

Is it possible for someone to just not be able to tolerate lip filler no matter what product or technique is used?I have had my lips filled multiple times and the top lip has migrated every time. I have seen three different nurse practitioners, all qualified. The first time they were done using restylane Kysse. It migrated so I had the filler dissolved by a different NP. She re-filled them. Migrated again. I had the top lip dissolved and a third NP used Juvaderm. Top lip migrated again.

That is an excellent question. Filler migration is not completely understood. It is thought that once lip filler migrates then subsequent filler may migrate along the same path. Some fillers may be more prone to migration than others. I have has some success dissolving the previous filler and using RHA 2 filler very superficially and in thin threads to try to prevent it from getting into the muscle where it can migrate more easily. RHA is made from hyaluronic acid chains that are longer and less chemically modified than other hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvederm or Restylane so it may behave differently. That said, it is still possible the filler may migrate.

I don’t believe fillers migrate. I believe it’s an excuse providers use for poor technique.

It would be interesting if you could show us pictures of what you’re referring to.

In 25 years of giving aesthetic injections I’ve never seen fillers move.
