If I undergo hymenoplasty, and the repaired hymen breaks accidentally for some reason, can I redo the procedure? And will I bleed again during intercourse after redoing the procedure?

The effects of restoring a previously fixed and then broken hymen (hymenoplasty) are determined by the amount of tissue present. There is no assurance that you will have bleeding following intercourse. However, not all virginal women bleed after their first penetrative intercourse.

Hymenoplasty can be done again after a previous surgery as long as there's still some hymenal tissue left at the vaginal opening. But, if there's not enough tissue left to work with, redoing the procedure might not be an option. It should be possible to redo.  If there is deficient mucosa, some can usually be moved from the surrounding tissue.   You most likely will be again upon intercourse. This can never be guaranteed, but most likely possible. Hymenoplasty

Hi, any surgery can be redone.  However, the best is when it’s done correctly the first time.  With every repeat surgery, the risk of breakdown increases.   For that reason, I recommend restriction of certain activities to maximize success with a hymenoplasty surgery.

Hello. The short answer is yes it can be repaired however to be certain an exam will need to be done to determine what type of repair would give the greatest success. An estimate of whether or not the area will bleed when torn after repair would be determined by the surgeon. Typically hymen repairs done properly have a 95% success rate of bleeding. Hymenoplasty doesn't guarantee bleeding during intercourse. It only increases the chance of bleeding during intercourse. The first repair is your best chance. If the repaired hymen is broken for any reason, there is less hymenal tissue available for use in a secondary repair and the quality of the tissue will not be as good.

Great question — yes, if the hymen breaks accidentally after your hymenoplasty, the procedure can be safely redone. I’ve seen this happen in rare cases, and a revision is absolutely possible.
