Martial Arts After BBL?

Hi. I’m a 27 year old female. I am interested in undergoing a Brazilian ButtLife but wanted to know how soon after the procedure I would be able to return to athleticism like the gym, martial arts and strength training?

Well it is important to understand that this depends more on the doctor's recommendations, because not all surgical techniques are the same. Hi, thank you for sharing your question. Typically, I recommend 6 weeks for gym and sports activities. Keep in mind that if your interests involve potential trauma to the areas that have been grafted (ie falling on your buttocks), then you may lose some fat and therefore some volume.

I personally ask my patients to wait 12 weeks before starting vigorous exercise. You need to give your body enough time to heal itself completely before starting any exercise program. Best wishes.

I understand your concern. It is best that you consult your plastic surgeon regarding post operative care and management (i.e including massage techniques and timing) specific to your case. Your surgeon knows your condition well and has preferences on when and what to use for faster healing and recovery. Post operative care and management depends on the type of surgery performed and the technique used during surgery among other factors.

While I allow my patients to return to the gym at 4 weeks, I would restrict your exercises and contact sports for at LEAST 8 weeks (possibly even 12 weeks).  The fat gets a stable blood supply within 4 weeks, but sheering effects form aggressive workouts of contact sports may interfere with the newly formed blood vessels brining oxygenated blood to the transferred fat.

The recovery from Liposuction and fat transfer isn’t that bad people often described as feeling like they did the worst workout of their life and their muscles are sore. It typically leaves people feeling stiff and it hurts when you move especially first thing in the morning the first few days. People who are accustomed to physical pain such as hard workouts tend to tolerate the procedure better than those who cannot handle things physically.
3 to 5 days is a reasonable amount of time for recovery before getting back into normal low-impact daily activities. For intense workouts or for those who compete you may need to give yourself six weeks. even then your body is still gonna feel different and maybe sort doing certain things.
It’s a gradual process. You also want to protect the grafted fat for the first three weeks and each plastic surgeon will have their own protocol on this.
