I had lip filler a few times over the past 3years, no more than 5treatments. I was unhappy with my last result and ended up getting them dissolved, which took about 3treatments, the last being a month ago. The filler was primarily placed in the center of the lip, and even after dissolving I notice more volume than in the corners. I don’t feel any filler lumps, but the lips look/feel more full and firm in the center. Is it possible that there is a permanent result, maybe from collagen build up?
Answer: Lip Filler Permanent Augmentation It’s quite possible that what you’re experiencing is due to collagen buildup from the repeated filler treatments. Hyaluronic acid fillers can stimulate collagen production in the treated areas over time, and even after the filler is dissolved, some residual volume can remain due to this natural collagen increase. This could explain the fullness and firmness you're noticing in the center of your lips. Additionally, it’s normal for lips to retain some changes in shape and texture after multiple filler treatments, even if the actual filler has been dissolved. The fact that you had several rounds of filler and dissolving treatments in the same area may have contributed to subtle changes in the tissue structure. If you’re still concerned about the unevenness or feel that the appearance isn’t what you’re looking for, a follow-up with your provider could be helpful. They might suggest additional dissolving if any filler is still present or offer other options to balance the volume.

Answer: Inquiry Regarding Lip Filler and Potential Permanent Effects Thank you for reaching out with your question. It’s understandable to have concerns about changes in your lips after several filler treatments and subsequent dissolving. Lip fillers, especially those based on hyaluronic acid, are designed to be temporary. However, as you’ve experienced, repeated treatments can sometimes stimulate collagen production in the lips, which may result in a subtle, longer-lasting volume increase. This could be why you're noticing more fullness in the center of your lips even after the filler has been dissolved. If the asymmetry or fullness continues to concern you, I recommend scheduling a consultation. During an in-person evaluation, I can assess the current condition of your lips and discuss potential options to address your concerns.

Answer: Yes Depending what type of filler they used. If it's hyaluronic acid you may need multiple rounds of hylauronidase before completely dissolving...if it's silicone you may need surgical consultation to remove it.

Answer: Is this permanent? What you are seeing is not likely a permanent change. Based on the description of your prior treatments you would benefit from further sessions to dissolve remaining product. Visit with your injector for an evaluation.
