Can I get lip filler if I currently have braces and will the filler interfere with future procedures?

That’s a really thoughtful question, and I completely understand where you’re coming from. Having braces won’t prevent you from getting lip filler—the filler is placed in the soft tissue of the lips, so the braces inside your mouth won’t interfere at all.

Since you’re planning on having bimaxillary surgery and rhinoplasty, the main thing to think about is how your lips may change afterward. Lip filler is temporary, usually lasting 6–12 months, so if you do it now it won’t interfere with your surgeries. The only thing is that your lip position and proportions may look different after jaw surgery, which means the filler results could change and may need to be adjusted later.

If your thin upper lip is something that really bothers you right now, it’s completely reasonable to do filler for a confidence boost, knowing it’s not permanent. Many of my patients choose this approach, while others prefer to wait until after their surgeries so their lips can be balanced around their “final” facial structure.

In short: braces are not an issue, filler won’t interfere with your future procedures, but you may need some fine-tuning after your surgeries.

If it were me giving advice, I’d say it comes down to how much the imbalance bothers you now versus whether you’d prefer to wait and treat everything once your other procedures are done.

I don’t think getting fillers would interfere with your upcoming procedures, but to know for sure you would need to ask those providers.
Most people have a lower lip that’s bigger than their upper lip.
I generally avoid injecting only the upper lip because it tends to look unnatural. I almost exclusively, treat both the upper and lower lip and usually maintain a natural ratio between the two lips because that’s what looks correct.
Each provider will have their own way of doing things, and there is substantial discrepancy in both skills and experience when it comes to these treatments.
