I’m an 18 yr old female and this is the first procedure I am considering, I found a location near me from google the other day and went for a consultation yesterday. I was told I only need an alar base reduction as I wanted, but the price they told me was $6,800 for the procedure. I only have $6,000 saved up right now, is there any other places in New York I can get this procedure for $3,000-$5,000?

It is almost impossible to achieve alar or nostril symmetry. The risk for making it worst is always there.I would not recommend an alarplasty

In general, the chances of infection from rhinoplasty with or without alar base reduction of very small given the great blood supply to the face. Alar base/sill reductions are very safe in experienced hands. The primary concern would be the obvious appearance of a scar which is why I recommend...
It is normal that nose opens more when you are smiling due to attachment of muscles to the allar base. There is also muscle that attaches to the columella of the nose and pulls tip down when smiling. This one can be detached during rhinoplasty or it can be procedure for itself. Hope this helps.
