I need to downsize. currently have a 485cc, 4.8cm projection, and 13.6cm width. I want a 385c, 4.5 projection, and 12.5cm width. Would the breast pocket have to be manipulated at all? My implants are still on the higher side. Does the burning and sutures affect future implant exchange in the future?
Answer: Exchange Your surgeon can check you on the table to see if the pocket needs any adjustment. Sometimes the lateral pocket needs to be tightened. Your sutures have probably dissolved from your previous surgery. Any burning sensation may or may not improve.

Answer: Pocket At the time of surgery, your surgeon will decide if he needs to modify the pocket for the smaller implant. If your implants are somewhat on the high side then there may not need to be adjustments. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Breast pocket and implant size Dear sunnydays345543, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Generally speaking, sometimes it is required to reduce the size of pockets if new implants re a lot smaller. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Downsizing implants It’s very difficult to answer your question with any useful meaning and I don’t think anybody is going to give you an answer that is actually helpful. To make an assessment regarding the outcome of a plastic surgery procedure we almost always need to see a complete set of proper before and after pictures. When downsizing implants a modest amount, the capsule will usually shrink to accommodate the implant, and for most patients, they should expect a temporary change impress the parents that will evolve overtime as the capsule shrinks. For a modest implant reduction is probably better not to manipulate the capsule. It is simply give it time , knowing that it will evolve. If the tissues were stretched out substantially with a much smaller implant being placed, then patients may need to have some tightening of the capsule or skin envelope. This varies substantially from patient to patient and will not see pictures. We can’t really begin to make an assessment. I suggest you discussed this with your provider. If you need a proper second opinion consultation, then schedule those as in person consultations with other providers in your community. For second opinion consultation, patient should come prepared with a complete set of proper before and after pictures and a copy of your previous operative report. It may also be beneficial to have current progress notes or an assessment from your current provider. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
