I am currently have 240 cc moderate profile silicone. The width of my breast is between 12-12.5 inches. I am going to exchange my implants to 300cc. I’m not looking to go up a full bra size. I’m currently right now a 34C in a bra and I just want to fill it out a little bit better. Is it worth it? My plastic surgeon thinks it is because I’m not trying to be a D cup. I’m also 5’1 and small framed so 300cc will look larger. I’m also concerned about thickening of the scars (they’re under the folds
Answer: Size Only you can decide if this increase is worth the cost and time. However, at 5'1", the 300 cc implants should look nice and will be a little fuller.

Answer: Implant exchange Dear Straightforward107902, breast implant type and sizing selection is a complicated process and requires a detailed consultation that includes a discussion of your goals, a detailed examination, and a lengthy discussion. But the decision will always start and end with the patient. When it comes to sizing, we have all of our patients find 3 photos of their desired breast size. We ask for naked breast photos because clothing can obscure the true size (push up bras). Next, we consult with patients and go over the photos and take detailed breast measurements during a physical exam. Next, we using a sizing algorithm to determine a range of implants that will work based on the exam and the measurements.Lastly, during the operation, we use silicone sizers in the operating room to see how the size actually looks in the breast. We sit the patient up in the operating room, while asleep of course, and compare the sizer result with their desired look photos. If it is too small, we start the process over with a slightly larger implant. We don't stop until we get the perfect match.Of all of my breast augmentation patients, every one of them has been happy with their size due to this detailed and meticulous process. You don't want to invest time and money into a result that is either too big or too small. You should discuss your concerns with a board-certified plastic surgeon and make sure that your surgeon understands your goals. Answer: Not worth the cost and risk At size 34, each 100 cc of implant corresponds to 1 cup size change. Adding 60 cc's would be approximately half a cup size. I am not sure it would be worth the cost and risk. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Same base and one higher profile implant I encounter this request very often. I can usually provide a nice result with a high profile implant with revising the implant pocket and without widening the implant base.

Answer: .Increasing implant size by 25%. Going from a 240 mL implant to a 300 mL implant will increase the implant size by 25%. If all of your breast is implant, and this is how much bigger your breast would be. Obviously, a certain percentage of your breast is implant, and a certain percentage is breast tissue. If your breast is 50% implant and 50% breast tissue then this implant change will add 12.5% total breast increase volume. In other words, the bigger your breast is the less impact the implant exchange will have. Without seeing pictures we can’t begin to make an assessment. Each plastic surgeon will have their own way of guiding patients through the implant selection process. Based on what you describe, I don’t see a good indication for having another breast surgery. Unless the surgery is indicated or it’s going to have a significant impact I suggest keeping the number of operations to a minimum. This isn’t like Changing your outfit or changing the wheels on your car. It’s having surgery. Most plastic surgeons are happy to accommodate whatever you ask for. Look for providers who ethically guide you through the decision-making process. Perhaps the changes indicated, perhaps it isn’t going to make enough difference to justify having surgery. This is where you should be working with your provider and hopefully you did a good job of selecting surgeons. It’s inappropriate for us to tell you what implant to use. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
