Based on your photo, I do not think that shaving the bone down is a good idea. Your nasal tip lacks projection which can be nicely improved with rhinoplasty. Possibly a little cartilage may be shaved down, but if the bone is taken down, it will be too low. Be sure to see a rhinoplasty expert for consultation.
Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photographs, I am not sure what bone shaving you are referring to. Additional photographs may be helpful. What I do see is alar retraction and lack of a tip defining point which could both be improved in revision surgery. recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person.Best wishes and good luck.Richard G. The dorsal hump is composed of both bone and cartilage and its shaved down when patients desire a more feminine profile. Osteotomies placed in the nasal bones close the open roof created from the hump removal itself and narrow the bridge line. Bone work is an integral part of a rhinoplasty.
