Alar asymmetry-reducing alar wall thickness (Photo)

Question

I’ve had a rhinoplasty in the past, but because my alars are uneven and one is more thick than the other nose looks asymmetric from the front. Would alarplasty solve my problem and improve the symmetry? I know there’s a procedure to reduce the thickness of the alar itself but that not many surgeons attemp it because of risks. I would be willing to asume the risks, would that procedure help my case?

Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photographs, you may benefit from a revision with tip refinement, alar contour grafts, and an internal sill excision. This could improve your nostril symmetry. Alarplasty alone would likely not fix this. With good surgical technique, you could have an outstanding result. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person.
