Can revision re-lengthen nose & can it be done at 9 months post-op? (Photos)

Question

I had a nose job and am very unhappy with the results. I wanted minor changes and received a whole new nose. I can’t recognize myself, and everyone I know tells me they can’t recognize me. This was not the outcome I wanted. My new nose is very short and upturned. Can a revision add some length back closer to where my natural nose looked like ?? I am struggling very bad mentally because of this huge change I did not ask for. Can I revision be done at 9-10 months post op?

In general, it is difficult to increase the length of the nose utilizing cartilage grafts. That said, it is difficult to evaluate your situation with the limited photo that you posted. Looks like Realself cropped off your nose from the photos you submitted. I think it's been happening just the last couple of days. You might want to submit your photos again.

Generally, yes, it's possible to cheat the "one year before revision" by a couple months, depending on what was done, what the nose looks like now, and what *needs* to be done. There are a bunch of other issues, too, that go into the decision-making, issues that can be figured out with good photos.

The overall answer is yes, the nose can be elongated and a revision can be done around the 10 month mark. However, there are a few other things to consider.When a nose is shortened, the skin heals and contracts. Sometimes, it is important to use massage and stretching for several months before surgery. This helps slightly. But effectively stretch the skin, which will make the grafts more effective. The other thing to consider is the overall mental preparedness. I do a lot of revisions and I know it can be very distressing, making patients want to get it revised as soon as possible. It's more important to get the right surgeons and do things right rather than rush into the next one. Do several consultations and gather info. Make sure to use computer morphing software with your surgeon to simulate the approximate results. This will make sure you have a good idea of what the nose will look like and avoid a similar situation. I hope this helps!

Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your on table after photograph, it is not surprising that you ended up over-rotated.  For this style nose it is possible to do a revision at nine months. I would release all scar tissue and place extended spreader grafts to derotate your tip.  With good surgical technique, you could have an outstanding result. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person.
