Hello. So obviously I am no doctor. Through surgery that releases constrictive bands that cause tuberous breasts, could breasts then naturally, over time, grow bigger? Or would fat grafting or implants be needed? I do not want implants, my main problem is the constriction in the underboob part of my breasts. Basically I just want to know if tubular boobs could grow bigger naturally after the constrictive bands are released. Thank you!

Answer: Tuberous breast deformity An important question. Releasing the constricting bands within the breast is very important when treating a tuberous breast deformity. In order to enlarge the breasts, some form of augmentation is needed, either with fat or an implant. Implants are usually the best choice because they maintain the breast in an expanded position and specifically allow the lower pole to stretch into a much more favorable shape. Best wishes, Dr. Jan

Answer: Tuberous breasts Hell and thank for the question and sharing you photos. I do believe you have elements of tuberous breasts, including high inframammary crease, constricted lower pole and herniation of breast tissue into areola. It is unlikely that breast tissue will grow naturally by just releasing the fibrous band. This can be corrected with breast augmentation in conjunction with scoring of lower pole for better expansion. I would consult with a qualified plastic surgeon for a formal evaluation and more discussion. Best, Pejman Aflaki, M.D. Johns Hopkins-trained plastic surgeon
