Abdominal boards and lipo foams causing more bruising? (Photo)

Question

I had a liposuction with fat transfer last Wednesday, I'm starting to feel ok again, BUT the ab boards backboard and lipo foams are KILLING me! I have bruises all over that wont go away that I'm pretty sure are because of the boards. The faja is not tight I just think maybe the foams are too small ? And I should use a foam under the boards ? Or is this about of bruising normal?

Hello and thank you for posting photos along with your question! I do not believe that the bruising is being caused or worsened by the boards/foam. The bruising appears minimal and can take a few weeks to disappear completely. The main thing to watch is to make sure the foam/boards are not irritating the skin at the edges and not causing blisters. You will notice the bruising will appear to travel further down and will change in color from purple to yellowish green to then normal. There are things your surgeon can recommend to help bruising go away faster. I hope this helps and congrats on your surgery!Ankur Mehta MD

your bruising actually looks very minimal, you should be getting lympatic massage and RF treatments at this time it looks as if you lower abdoment is not even and flat.  Please follow a strict after care protocol.  Best, Dr. Emer.

At one week out from a BBL bruising is completely normal and expected. Your skin is very tender so discomfort from anything pressing on it is also normal. I have my patients start the lipo  boards a few weeks out as I found because they are kind of still, a lot of patients couldn't tolerate it. We still with the soft foam for the first two weeks. From the photos you actually don't appear to have a lot of bruising for this stage of healing.

Thank you for your question. Bruising is common after lipo and they will get better with time. Your garments are important to keep and if they are too tight I recommend to see your PS for evaluation and change them. Garments help for swelling.
