Are surgical lip lifts permanent or does the skin stretch to its original length within time?

I have seen women’s experiences on here with lip lifts that have stretched from the scar, lengthening the gap between nose and lips and also the scar becoming more visible because of the stretch.

Many thanks for posting your question.Whilst a lip lift is designed to remove skin between the base of the nose and the lips, there will alway be a degree of skin stretch afterwards - this is why the design is planned to overcorrect the lift initially, anticipating a little relaxation.Having said that, if the lift is well supported on the deeper strong fixed tissues, this should minimise the risk of the scar lowering down and becoming more visible.I hope this answers your question

Hello xsmnloThe Subnasal Bullhorn lift is a technical variant of the gull-wing lip lift. The sub-nasal lip lift or bull-horn lip lift involves the removal of either an ellipse or a curved-edge ellipse of tissue from under the nose. The skin then is raised, and sutured to lift the lip and expose more of the upper-lip vermilion. Different      lip lift techniques exist to address different lip concerns, whether you      want to even out your lower lip or plump thin lips.

For the most part with a lip lift the results are permanent. A lip lift will narrow (shorten) the distance between the nose and upper lip.  When this procedure is done, the surgeon may overcorrect some to help prevent recurrent laxity.  As with any plastic surgery procedure, gravity and time (aging) continue after surgery. Overall, it is a nice procedure to perform by itself or in conjunction with a face lift to rejuvenate and help restore a youthful appearance of the face and upper lip.

The subnasal lip lift will relax a bit in the first six months after the procedure by about 20%. But this does not result in scar widening, it is just the natural effect of gravity on an operation which is an 'anti-gravity' procedure.
