Hello! I’m not getting much luck from the doctor/surgeon that did my procedure as I don’t get an answer from them. I’m 4 weeks post hair transplant tomorrow and I have developed these red raised slightly sore spots on the donor area. Are these a sign of infection? Or ingrown hair? Is there something I can do or apply on? Thank you in advance

Answer: Raised bumps in donor area Thank you for your question. The raised bumps are most likely due to a folliculitis (inflammation around a follicle) that can occur when a hair follicle is transected during the harvesting process. Transected follicles have weakened growth and hence can become an ingrown follicle. They will usually respond to hot water compresses and will likely drain a small amount of purulent material similar to a pimple. In more severe cases antibiotics may be necessary. It is disappointing to hear that your surgeon's office will not respond to your concerns.I hope this was helpful - Dr. Moore.
