Is there an increased risk from poor circulation in surgery?

Thank you for your question and I am sorry that you are having these symptoms. Are you nervous about your surgery ? Or has anything changed recently with respect to your diet/ weight etc? Any recent long journeys ? I would suggest speaking to your surgeon to assess it and rule out the common things. Breast augmentation is generally quite a quick procedure and their is less of a risk of developing clots as the duration of surgery and the time that you are stationary after the surgery is far less than other surgical procedures. Nonetheless, I think it is wise to contact your GP to inform them and also contact the surgeon who might be able to expedite any relevant investigations as yoru surgery is pending. It does not sound like blood clots would cause your symptoms but it would be best to investigate it I hope this is of some help to youBW

During your pre-operative consult, your plastic surgeon should have discussed your options as well as the risks involved. It is best if you call you surgeon with your concerns.  It is hard to tell what is going on without a physical examination.  In surgery they will put pneumatic compression device on your legs to encourage your blood flow.  Best of luck in our upcoming surgery.

I dont believe the two are related, but make your surgeon aware of it and he or she will take the proper precaution to make sure you dont get a blood clot during surgery

Hi. Before getting into surgery is advisable for you to go to your PG and get a doppler to verify if your lower extremities circulation is ok. I would recommend contacting your Surgeon to discuss your symptoms and concerns. I would also recommend that you seek a review with you personal doctor prior to surgery to make sure you are fit for the anaesthetic and surgery. Quite possibly you may be anxious which can give you these symptoms. As far as blood clots are concerned, they are uncommon in short operations like breast augmentation if you are fit and well otherwise, in addition your surgical team will take precautions to minimise the risk of blood clots. With any sudden change in your health that may modify or change the risk profile of procedure, the surgeon should be notified ASAP. There may be some evaluation that has to be done to rule out disease processes that would interfere with the healthy completion of your breast augmentation. Hope all goes well.
