Do I need to buy a certain soap to wash the night before and morning of surgery? 5 days pre-op.

Hi KellyT14, It is good to hear that you are preparing well for your surgery and for your recovery. Pre-operative preparations should be discussed by your plastic surgeon. Every surgeon has different pre-operative recommendations.You should discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon as different surgeons have different approaches in pre-operative and post operative care and management.

Thank you for your question! For my patients having a breast augmentation, I recommend they use a soap we give them a sample of, called Hibiclens. You can also purchase this soap over the counter. I recommend using this soap one time either the night before or morning of surgery. I also recommend discussing specific pre and post op instructions with your plastic surgeon. Best of luck!

Congratulations on your upcoming surgery!  It sounds like you are doing all the right things.  Every surgeon has his or her own preoperative instructions and protocols, and while some general guidelines do exist, I would stick to the specific instructions from your surgeon's office and/or from the hospital.  As far as soap - I usually tell my patients to use non-scented, non-lotion, antibacterial soap the night before surgery and on the morning of surgery, but again, your surgeon's instructions may differ from mine, and therefore, if you have any specific questions, I recommend that you call your surgeon's office to clarify.  Best of luck with your surgery!

Hi,Each doctor will have their own instructions on how you should prepare for surgery. I usually have my patients wash with Dial antibiotic soap the night before and the morning of surgery. Best wishes!

Thiank you for your question. Typically this is something you would have gone over in your pre-op appointment with your surgeon. In my practice, I recommend a Hibiclens cleansing solution the night before in the shower and morning of surgery. But please check with your surgeon, as they may have different recommendations.

I normally ask my patients to come in good hygienic conditions. You missed to tell us which surgery you are talking about.
For example for Labiaplasty I prepare  patients by telling them to clean with Betadine at least once for a week before surgery.
Anti septic soap solutions are also available to clean yourself in case of doubt.
