Full face and neck Ultherapy 6 months ago, still no results, main concern sagging muscles/skin under the chin/upper neck (Photo)

You are voicing the same complaints I have heard from many of my patients who had Ultherapy treatment outside of my practice.  It may give slight improvement in a small select group of patients but most patients see little to no results.  Additional treatments will not likely improve your result.  If you have sagging muscles and skin of your neck, your maximal improvement will be achieved by a well done neck and facelift by a board certified plastic surgeon. These results will be noticeable and long lasting.  Best wishes.

Ultherapy does not replace a facelift. The results from Ultherapy are VERY subtle compared to an actual surgical lift so maybe your expectations were a little too high. I would discuss your concerns with your provider. Unfortunately although many patients with early changes of aging have been satisfied with the results of Ultherapy I have personally seen many patients who felt they saw little or no improvement.  Noninvasive or minimally invasive techniques all rely on heating the skin and underlying tissue enough to shorten the collagen fibers by inducing some thermal damage.  There is simply a limit to how much tightening you can get without actually resecting tissues surgically and the deeper SMAS level is not addressed at all.  I think it is extremely unlikely that another noninvasive treatment like Ultherapy is going to give you a meaningful improvement.

It is difficult to give you the best advice without examining you.  It is possible that you may not have been a good candidate for Ultherapy and that is why you are not seeing results 6 months after your treatment.  It is likely that a surgical procedure could give you more dramatic results than those that could be achieved with Ultherapy.  I would discuss your concern with the physician who treated you and mutually decide on a plan to give you better results.  

If you've failed to be pleased with a non surgical alternative, maybe its time to consider surgery.  Its hard to tell without photos of your face.  At this point, its best to go for another consultation with this in mind.

Ultherapy is a good treatment for getting minor improvement along the jawline and lower face in properly selected patients. I still tell patients that they can usually get 20% of the result of a facelift. For some that is enough, for others not enough. I do not feel that another Ultherapy treatment will do a lot more. In our practice we back up Ultherapy with a policy that if it does not work, we will apply what you spent and deduct it from the cost of a surgical facelift. 

Mariel Unfortunately, many noninvasive treatments,  including ultherapy and other skin tightening mechanisms either work minimally or not at all. Often times underlying muscles of the face need to be tightened as well as trimming and lifting of redundant skin. This involves a facelift of some sort. Consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area to explore the best options for you. Good luck.

Hi,I have found that some patients have an outstanding result from Ultherapy while others do not see much change. It is hard to determine what to offer you without seeing a picture of you. In general, non-surgical options for treating loose and sagging skin include radiofrequency devices such as  FaceTite, resuspension sutures such as InstaLift and other energy delivery devices like ultherapy. Thank you for your question. This is not an uncommon complaint from patients that have had non invasive procedures. Some get better results than others. A well performed neck lift/ lower facelift will give the results most patients are truly looking for. I would recommend you see a board certified plastic surgeon for a consultation.

In my practice, we do not offer ultherapy for the reason you mentioned.  It does not work.  The only way to correct saggy excess skin is with surgery.  There is no other way.
