I am having my BBL in 3 days time. I am very nervous and can only stay for 5 days after wards. The flight is only 2 hours but I am flying home after just 5 days. Is this safe? And will I be in too much pain to make that journey home alone?
Answer: After the BBL, is 5 days a safe enough amount of time to fly a short distance home? As you can probably imagine, different surgeons will have different recommendations so you should ask your surgeon.

Answer: Traveling after surgery Hello, thank you for your question. I recommend our patients to stay at least 14 days before traveling. Flying after 5 days only might be too soon. Make sure your surgeon knows your travel plans.

Answer: Postoperative protocol Dear pw151,I instruct my patients not to sit for 2 solid weeks. We provide them a specialized pillow that our patients can sit on during that time. But every plastic surgeon has his own postoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Society of Plastic Surgery

Answer: Good question You certainly want to ask your surgeon. But we advice our patients to be extremely caution with flying and with pressure over the areas of the fat transfer especially to the buttocks. As you know excessive pressure and time sitting can result in complete loss of the graft which is a devastating complication for the patient and the surgeon.I would advise caution and an honest discussion with your surgeon.I hope this helps!

Answer: After the BBL, is 5 days a safe enough amount of time to fly a short distance home? Thank you for the question and the information provided. I would recommend not to travel, 3 days is not enough time for recovery, i recommend my patients at least 4 days. It is necessary to consult this with your surgeon and follow his/her recommendations, your health and well being is the most important. Best Wishes.
