Very upset with my breast augmentation...is it normal to sag after less than 3 years? i was in love with my breasts till the skin on my right breast started invading my cleavage and i started sagging. Top picture 7/4/14 lower picture 3/2/17
Answer: Implant sagging The sagging over three years is unlikely due to any aspect of how your surgeon performed your procedure, but rather the size of the implants, and the characteristics of your skin. Different patients have different scan and different degrees of elasticity and resilience. It is not uncommon, particularly with large implants, for the breasts to drop over time, just as they would if they were naturally heavy.Best of luck! Answer: Natural aging process of implants, they were likely still riding a little high, over time either they settled OR your breast tissue has started to sag more OR some combination of the two. Gravity always wins over time, especially with large implants.

Answer: Breast Sagging Hello,Thank you for your question and photos. A few things which can affect the sagging of breasts over time are skin elasticity, weight of breast, pregnancy and weight loss. I recommend that my patients wear a supportive bra regularly- even at night. In the long run, a secondary surgery such as breast lift is sometimes desired in order to maintain a perky look.I recommend that you see your Plastic Surgeon in person for an exam and discussion of options. All the best

Answer: Breasts going south ? Thanks for your question and the photos. The Photos don't show a lot so I will have to discuss the concepts here. There are two things that can go south after BA. The implant itself, and the natural breast tissue. The larger the implant, the more it responds to gravity over time. It is a paradox. We want to make our patients happy, and many women want larger implants, but in placing larger implants there is more likelhood they will go down over time. It is hard to convince a patient that the short term gain may not be worth the droop over time. Your early picture is likely before you fully dropped. There is dramatic upper pole fullness that patients enjoy before the implant gets to its normal position. When they get to their normal position the thinking is often " I liked them when they were higher-- I should have gone bigger". The opposite is true. Biggger would have likely relaxed more.Natural breast tissue also responds to gravity. Any woman with a good amount of natural breast tissue will always regain some droop. I actually think this looks more natural. Natural breast relaxation is dependant on other factors as well such as weight gain and loss and hormonal variation. Many patient want what I call a "gravity defying breast". Patients with this kind of result are usually younger women with good skin tone, little natural tissue to begin with and a common sense size implant. In this situation there is little to go south. If your implant is in good position and the issue is natural tissue droop you could consider a lift and even reduction of the natural breast, leaving less natural tissue to go south. elevating an implant would be more complex but is possible. Hope these concepts make sense.

Answer: Sagging after breast augmentation Breast augmentations will drop with time and this is normal. If you have children or have weight loss this may also contribute. The weight of the implants will also have an effect since going larger will cause the weight of breasts to increase.
