Lower blepharoplasty with filler still present under my eyes? Can it be removed with the blepharoplasty?

Likely you filler is still in your lower eyelid.  I have seen case after case of individuals getting ready to have eyelid surgery and removing the old filler with hyaluronidase also removed the reason why they wanted eyelid surgery.  For some individuals the old fillers hold more water and this can created unwanted fullness.  In fairness, for some reason, surgeons don't understand this or are so motivated to get surgery done that they are not interested in exploring what is right for you- like removing an old filler service even if it gets rid of the issue you might have surgery for.

After 2.5 years most of the filler is probably gone, but you never know!  During a surgery, any filler that is in there will actually come out.  However it is easier to just inject some hyaluronidase beforehand if you think there is still some in there.  This can be done anytime before the surgery. 

Dear LalaxThank you for your question!  I prefer to remove the fillers prior to the surgery day- an injection of the enzyme a week or 2 before, then the surgeon can assess if there is any residual filler on the day of surgery- and remove it if needed.With Warm RegardsTrevor M Born MD

  The primary goal for lower blepharoplasty is to conservatively remove the herniated fat creating the puffy look.  Fillers are not removed with a blepharoplasty procedure, there removed with hyaluronidase injections several weeks prior to the surgery.  A lower blepharoplasty will not lift the descent of the cheeks.  For more information many before and after blepharoplasty results, please see the link and the video below

However, if one of your problems is retained filler, I would recommend an injection of hyaluronidase prior to your surgery. This is an enzyme that will dissolve the Perlane hyaluronic acid. Then you could proceed with a lower lid blepharoplasty. Hope this helps!
