I just got a neck lift with a Submentoplasty. It's been 6 months since he procedure... but my skin looks loose and warped when I tilt my head down. Did I get botched? Or am I still healing? Or is it because I reduced to get a chin implant?
Answer: Neck lift Thank you for your inquiry. I have examined the photographs that you have kindly submitted, and there is a suggestion that there is still significant volume deep to the platysma muscles. This is generally made of submandibular glands, digastric muscle volume, and possibly centrally placed fatty tissue. It would be worth discussing with your surgeon to find out whether your submentoplasty was a deep plane technique or whether it was a more limited intervention, as the deep plane generally produces more significant changes.

Answer: Neck I can't tell from these photos but did you get any incisions behind your ears at all or just the central neck incision? Surgeons come up with different names for everything so I don't know what you mean exactly when you say you had a neck lift with a submentoplasty... but if you didn't have any side incisions (behind the ear), then you probably didn't have any skin removed, which is why you are noticing the folds, possibly. I also agree that I think you could benefit from a chin implant.

Answer: Early result of neckLift It is very hard to comment on your result without preoperative photos. This does not look bad for 6 months, you may expect further improvement. Chin implant would make the difference. Be patient. Hope this helps.

Answer: Loose skin in neck The neck skin will always look loose when you look down. The tightness is appropriate at this stage. Down the road you can always use something like Sofwave to tighten it further. Regards Dr. J

Answer: Loose skin six months after a neck lift More information about what specific maneuvers you had performed in your neck would be helpful, such as a copy of the operative report. Consider placement of a chin implant to augment your chin forward, and removal of the fat deposits both above and below your platysma muscle along with a platysma plasty to significantly improve your jawline, especially when you place your chin downwards.
