Surgery during H pylori treatment. Is this safe?

Question

I currently have surgery scheduled three weeks from now and I have recently been diagnosed with H p. I just started my treatment plan which is 500 mg of c twice a day and metronidazole three times a day. I will have just finished these antibiotics at the time of surgery is this safe or does this compromise my bodies ability to fight infection. Clarithromyicin and Metronidazole for H. Pylori

it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations.

Please let your surgeon know about this as soon as you can. Generally speaking, patients should be clear of infection prior to surgery.

You do want to make sure you have been cleared of this infection to avoid the risk of infecting your implants. Your medical doctor can tell you when it will be safe to have a second surgery. You will probably receive more antibiotics with your breast surgery. Candida or fungal infection may be an issue after such strong antibiotics and your gut flora will need to enhanced with good bacteria.

Each plastic surgeon will have their own criteria regarding the appropriateness of each procedure, including patient overall health and medical history. I suggest you contact your plastic surgeon sooner rather than later and give them an update regarding your health status.
