Will Vaser lipo help tighten the stomach? (Photos)

Question

I met with a plastic surgeon who recommended a tummy tuck, but I don’t like the looks of the scar. He gave me a second option of having a Vasor liposuction. But I want to make sure it will not leave me with looser skin.

From your photos you don't seem to need a tummy tuck at all. I love Vaser on patient's like yourself. You seem to have great skin tone and underlying definition. Vaser is safe, effective and gives great outcomes for the right patients. Why have surgery that would only leave scarring. See a competent provider that does Vaser and I think you will be satisfied. Yes, Vaser liposuction removes fat and tightens the skin to some extent. From the pictures you could be a good candidate for it.

vaser + internal heating can give improvement but if you have loose skin it needs to be removed.
You need a formal evaluation by an expert in body shaping and contouring to determine what is best.  Traditional liposuction awake and smart liposuction are old methods and do very poorly for tightening skin or significant skin tightening or contouring.  Small problem areas can be improved slightly by these methods.  The best in body contouring not only removes fat with energy devices like VASER ultrasound but also internally heat the skin with radio-frequency devices such as J PLASMA/RENUVION, InMode BodyTite, ThermiRF to heat the under surface of the skin and tighten it at the same time as fat removal. These combinations are called 4D HIDEF VASER contouring and can only be done by a well . trained body contouring specialist. At the same time fat should be harvested, PRP and stem cells added and injected into muscles or indentations/cellulite to get body shaping and contouring.  This is known as a Brazilian butt lift when you inject the fat to the buttock for contouring and lifting, but fat can also be used in areas such as the chest/breast, arms/shoulders, calves and face.  Cellulite should also be treated with cellfina, sculptra, subcision and/or fillers such as bellafill, renuva synthetic fat, or sculptra.  If skin is very loose before surgery then it will need to be removed such as lower abdominal skin (tummy tuck/abdominoplasty), breast skin (breast lift), arm skin (brachioplasty).  Overall you need a full assessment, but simple liposuction alone will not tighten skin and needs a combination of various methods -- fat removal, skin tightening, defining, fat grafting, skin removal -- to get the best in body contouring and body sculpting.  Dr. Emer.

Thank you for your question and photos. You do have an athletic figure, and although your lower abdomen is covered with your shorts, I assume it is similar to the upper abdomen. If you were my patient, I would do VASER Hi Def Lipo 360 degrees to reshape your torso. Based on your photos, you appear to be an ideal candidate for Vaser ultrasound liposuction. (Provided your lower abdomen skin is similar to what is visible).In my experience, patients can avoid tummy tuck (scar, recovery) with Vaser which will remove stubborn fat and tighten skin.An exam and (repeat) consultation with your/a plastic surgeon who performs these procedures is recommended to confirm you are a candidate as well as discuss your options and expectations.

Thank you for your question. I am not able to observe the skin laxity in your photograph. It must be quite slight. If that is the case, then VASER would be a good choice for skin-tightening and precision body contouring. I am a big fan of VASER precisely because it can be so effective at subtle enhancement. It appears to me that subtle enhancement is exactly what your are seeking.I would also recommend CoolSculpting. It is not quite as precise as VASER, but is also less risky, because CoolSculpting is non-invasive and it does not require anesthesia. We specialize in CoolSculpting at my Los Angeles-based practice, so I have a lot of experience with the procedure. CoolSculpting is ideal for treating small but persistent pockets of fat at the belly. A tummy tuck is primarily a skin tightening procedure. Liposuction removes body fat. When the bus action is done correctly there are very few skin changes though the skin never looks better from liposuction and can look worse especially if the procedure isn’t done well. This has more to do with that being removed in an uneven fashion leaving an uneven fat contour which makes the skin look bad.There’s nothing wrong with using VASER. That said, this device when used by someone who is not experienced or doesn’t have great skill can lead to worsening disfigurement than traditional liposuction.I would venture to say that nobody wants to have a tummy tuck but some people need them. Your skin looks reasonably good so I can understand why you would be hesitant.Liposuction results vary immensely among different providers. This is true for port certified plastic surgeons and everyone else as well.My suggestion is to be very selective on who you allow it to do liposuction. The skill of the surgeon is the only variable that matters. Don’t worry about what equipment they use. Ask to see 50 sets of before and after pictures.Make sure this provider has extensive experience with this procedure.When in doubt have more consultations until you feel very comfortable your provider is truly on top of their game when it comes to liposuction.I would venture to say that those providers who steer you towards a tummy tuck may not be the provider you want to do your liposuction. some providers don’t like doing liposuction and their lack of commitment to mastering the procedure shows and their results.Personally I think liposuction would work well for you. I’m a bit biased and that my practice is devoted exclusively to liposuction and fat transfer procedures. I spent years doing plenty of tummy tucks but the last decade has been only liposuction.My liposuction results 10 years ago were not nearly as good as they are today.Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
