Hi there! I am scheduled for 360 lipo. I am on many Facebook Lipo groups and there are tons of posts about lymphatic massages/drainage. I've read from hundreds of patients that massage is just as important as the procedure itself and without correct & frequent massages, I will develop fibrosis and get subpar results. Obviously I will speak with my PS at my pre-op, however I wanted to see what other doctors had to say about it. Is lymphatic massage necessary to achieve optimal results? Thanks!

Answer: Massages after Surgery Thank you for your question. The massages are very important and have a significant roll to achieve the final results, Also, the massages helps with the eliminate the swelling. I would suggest to be treated by board certified plastic surgeon with experience in this procedure, to get the best desired results. Kind regards, Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-

Answer: Massage and liposuction There is zero scientific evidence that massage has any impact on the final Liposuction outcomes. My practice has been focused exclusively on only liposuction and fat transfer for over 10 years. I’ve performed over 7000 Liposuction procedures. The development of fibrosis, excess scar tissue and aesthetic bad outcomes is purely related to surgical incompetence. The only variable that matters is who does the procedure. When done correctly all patients heal nicely without complications from Liposuction. There appears to be great temptation to blame poor outcomes and things other than surgical technique.
