I cant seem to grow facial hair on my cheeks, what can I do to rectify this?I have decent growth on neck, chin and upper lip although not enough for a tache. I am a 36 yr old male with sensitive facial skin (rosacea I believe). What are my options regarding increasing hair growth on my cheeks or am I destined to have a babyface forever!? I have read about creams, potions and lotion but I am sceptical as can only really find them on Amazon. Any help is greatly appreciated, AB

Answer: Beard Hair Transplant Minoxidil may be a temporary solution. However, you should be aware that minoxidil helps with growth of vellus hair which may not be compatible with the beard hair. Therefore, for a more permanent solution, you may have a beard hair transplant surgery done. You should be checked for any hormonal or genetic diseases before the procedure.

Answer: Most likely you should consider hair transplant to the beard area It is in general hard to grow beard where you don't have it. Of course, you can try minoxidil (Rogaine) but that's a temporary solution that you must keep doing it and most likely is not sustainable or even very effective. PRP would not work. The only durable solution would be a facial hair transplant (please see the link below for more info). There are many factors that need to be considered when deciding on whether you are a good candidate. If you are losing a lot of scalp hair already then you may need those hairs for your head rather than your beard. It would be good to see if your hair texture in your head looks similar to the beard hair, i.e., a bit coarser. That would be particularly important if you have existing hairs there and the scalp and existing beard hair needs to match. Finally, how extensive a beard or mustache are you trying to achieve. All of these factors can be discussed more in detail during a consultation whether we start on the phone or go straight to an in-person consultation (which is always preferred if possible). I hope that helps a bit.

Answer: Increasing Facial Hair on your Cheeks You have several options for facial hair restoration. I recommend using Rogaine daily in the beard distribution. You can consider topical testosterone cream, but this will likely come with side effects like acne as well as systemic absorption leading to other potential side effects. Additional non-surgical options include platelet rich plasma to the beard region. This is a low risk procedure best performed in young male patients (18-29 year olds) who may only require stimulation of the hair follicles to begin growth. Men in their mid to late 30's are more likely to have a stable beard distribution better improved with surgical procedures.Beard transplantation is a surgical procedure that requires taking hair from the scalp or other donor location (neck or chest), and placing the grafts in the desired beard distribution. This procedure has a high success rate and long term results. Visit a hair restoration specialist for an exam to see what your best options are.
