I recently had fue treatment done. And am feeling that my hairline in front should have been lower. I have always been self-conscious of the size of my forehead. However, I was told it would look natural if the line was lowered. Desperately need some advice. I am 3 days post surgery.
Answer: Hairline lowering Hi there. Generally the hairline is discussed and confirmed in your pre op. There are many methods to measuring how far the hairline should come down. One such way is to split the face into thirds. Also the swelling post procedure may make your hairline appear higher. And once hair grows through you may not be as conscious. Also note that far too often I am correcting hairlines which have been brought too far forward and are ‘see through’ rather than slightly receded thick hairlines.

Answer: Time is your friend Congrats on having a hair transplant. Swelling is maximal on day 2 and day 3 after surgery. The swelling is in your forehead, making it appear larger than normal. When the swelling settles, you will have a better sense of the proportions and framing of the face. So, I would try really hard not to panic at this time. The worst case is you do more to lower the hairline in the future, but likely, you will be thrilled in a few months. Sending reassuring vibes from Manhattan.

Answer: Lowering the hairline I have been doing hair restoration since last 12 years and every single patient almost have the same demand....Lowering of hairline.........I never do that..I have to convince them by pictures and specially with references from their family hair loss pattern.... Mostly lowering can cause unnatural look....I think you must follow your doctor advise and wait for a year.....Lowering is not an issue it can be done easily but the worst part is to make it correct when it's too low....

Answer: Hairline higher than I want You should go back and discuss this with your doctor. Low hairlines in young patients are not a good idea. The hairline the doctor makes has to last you the rest of your life. If the hairline is made too low, and you continue to lose hair, there may not be enough grafts to fill in behind the low hairline. Make an appointment to follow up and discuss further with him,Dr. Robert Jones
