I have a severe cold. Is it possible that my restylane filler in my lips will dissolve?

I got the injection(my first ever) done on wednesday and have been lying in bed since then. I already had the symptoms before so restylane is not to blame. Because of the cold I am so afraid that my body will perceive the filler as an antibody and reject it. Is it possible? Another question: When will the stiffness in my lips subside? They still hurt and feel so hard. I can barely smile. Thank you so much. Andrea

I am sorry to hear that you are in bed with a cold.  This will not affect your Restylane injections in any way.  It does take a little while for the swelling induced by lip injections to resolve.  Hang in there!  If you're lips do not have their normal color, if the pain does not subside rapidly, your lips continue to feel abnormal in any way, contact your injector immediately

Hard and lumpy lips after filler is not common, it should feel smooth.  If it is hard and large it is either swollen or having an allergic reaction and should be eavluated by your physician.  Next time go to an expert injector who uses cannulas for injections.  Best, Dr. Emer.

The cold will have no effect on your fillers. The tightness of the lips will alleviate in the next few days as the swelling continues to go down.
