Is hyaluronidase the best option or should I just wait for the restylane to leave my body on its own? (Photo)

If you are unhappy with the irregular look of your tear trough Restylane injections, hyaluronidase provides a quick and easy fix.  If it is 3 weeks after injection and you have tried some massage to the area and it is still not improved, it may take 12 months or more to go back to the pre-injection state. Hyaluronidase is typically injected with a tiny needle into the area and you begin to see a result within a few minutes with the final result seen at around 24 hrs.  The downside is the possibility of some minor swelling and bruising.I typically see patients in my office who have had injections elsewhere that they are unhappy with.  I tend to dissolve the filler with hyaluronidase and then re-inject the patients a few days to a week later.

If you have fullness and swelling under your eyes after Restylane injection then I would recommend injection of hyaluronidase.I don't feel that your eye twitching is related to Restylane injections.  There can be some bruising and swelling after hyaluronidase this usually resolves fairly quickly

If you are unhappy with the results of the filler, I suggest having it reversed and fixed by an expert in filler injections who uses cannulas for filler placement.  It is common for this area (tear trough/under eyes) to get swollen and have irregularites if not performed by a well trained injector.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Hi Liz.  Hyaluronidase works very well for Restylane and Juvederm reversal with no side effects.  Typically the effects are seen within the first 24 hours.  The procedure is quick and simple.To see an example of a Los Angeles patient that wnated Juvederm under the eyes reversed with Vitrase, click on the link below for before and after pictures.  

Fillers in the lower eyelids can often persist for several years. I would wait at least 6 weeks after the original injections. If you are still unhappy with the result, have the filler dissolved. There are a lot of bad reviews about hyaluronidase on this site, but most doctors feel it works very predictably with relatively few side effects. Good luck!

I think Hyaluronidase is a good option for
you. This of course depends on how upset you are by the irregularity under your
eyes, but I would not advocate for simply unhappily waiting for 6-12 months for
the product to go away on its own when there is an easy and quick way to get
rid of it. And there is. Hyaluonidase is easily injected into the area and will
reverse the product with little risk of negative effect.

I am sorry to hear you are disappointed with your
Restylane under-eye treatment. The positive thing about hyaluronic acid based
fillers such as Restylane is that they are not permanent, and can be dissolved
either partially or fully by hyaluronidase. Hyaluronidase is an enzyme found
naturally in the body that safely and gradually breaks down hyaluronic acid.

When injected properly, hyaluronidase should
not have any effect on surrounding tissue, nor should it leave you with more
loose skin or “bags” than you previously had. Hyaluronidase starts working
immediately, but may take up to three days to take full effect. Keep in mind
that sometimes more than one session of hyaluorindase is necessary for optimal
correction. As with any injectable, there is always the possibility of swelling
and/or bruising, but any downtime is typically very minimal.

Restylane under the eyes can last anywhere
from 6 months to a year. Over time, hyaluronic acid fillers are gradually
absorbed by the body, and the treated area returns to baseline. If you are
comfortable waiting for it to resolve on its own, feel free, however do not let
the negative things you have heard about hyaluronidase discourage you if you
are truly unhappy. Be sure to consult with a board certified Dermatologist
about your interest in hyaluronidase, and for all future injectable treatments.

I have dissolved Restylane in
over 20 patients under their eyes when it has been improperly placed by another
injector or it has migrated. I have not had any of these patients have
these side effects except for minor bruising in a few. Usually by the next day
the filler has cleared and they are really happy…

At 3 weeks if you're unhappy with your undereye filler, I would recommend having this dissolved with hyaluronidase. You could also wait but it might be 12 months before this resolves completely. I have also had the experience of seeing people with your concerns for a second opinion 15-18 months after improper filler placement.
