Riding a bicycle on the 4th day after a FUE/DHI hair transplant.

Question

Today is my fourth day after my FUE/DHI transplant in the crown area. This morning I had to rush to the bank by bike (about 10 minutes cycling) and I noticed my blood pressure went up a bit, my heart was beating fast but I was not sweating. Afterwards I felt that both the donor and recipient areas were hurting a bit more than usual (maybe because it was very cold?). Is a sudden increase of blood pressure bad for the grafts? Should I avoid using the bicycle in the next days?

It is best to contact your doctor about post operative care and instructions since each doctor has a different regimen.  Riding a bicycle should not be an issue after a hair transplant surgery (unless you fall and injure your head).

Exercise should be limited for the first few weeks after surgery.  Hair grafts need to "take" after surgery and once rooted normal activities can resume.  Your doctor should review your instructions prior and after the case.  Best Dr. Anil Shah

Following a FUE procedure, I would generally recommend light activity for the first 10 days. If you wear a bicycle helmet, be careful that there is a bandana or cloth protecting the transplanted area. The motion of the straps can dislodge grafts.  After 10 days the grafts are permanent and you can resume any activities you wish.  It would be best to check with your surgeon as to specific instruction he/she may want you to follow.

The grafts are very tenuous the first week after surgery and strenuous physical activity should be avoided.  If you are concerned it would be worth a visit to your surgeon to explain what happened and have an examination.
