Hi I had FUE on 16th Aug. I started picking out scabs in my donor area since 22nd Aug night as they have dried out and have been picking out since then till 23rd Aug evening like for 3-4 hours continuously. I am quite worried that it may have affected my transplant. Please help me.
Answer: Follow up with your surgeon. It is best to contact your surgeon for post surgery issues and care since all doctors have slightly different instructions. Your doctor can assess your donor area and make sure everything is okay.

Answer: Picking out scabs in donor area from 6th day post op. As the question reads it was confusing to the posters below however I will answer for two questions.Recipient area: It is unacceptable to pick out scabs during the first week. It can potentially cause you to pull out scabs AND grafts.Donor area: You can pick scabs out of the donor with no problem except it could cause bleeding in the first 3 days.Overall you should gently wash off the scabs and not pick them following your post op instructions.

Answer: Picking out scabs in donor area picking out scabs in donor area will not effect on hair transplant ...You may start to wash your transplant area at second day of surgery with care and massage the transplant area gently so the scabs will fall off... After two weeks of hair transplantation it is acceptable to wash hairs as normal /preoperative period of surgery. All scabs should be cleaned with pressured (not gentle) massage to transplant area after 2 weeks .Dont forget that you may wash your head with normal pressure and if you need you can use a wet towel with soap for massage the scabby area, it Works very well to remove scabs .Patient may feel free to loosen any scabs on his/her head by massaging and that will not damage the grafts after 2 weeks .

Answer: Scabs after Hair Transplant surgery usually it is safe to pick on the scabs starting the ninth day. To pick on the scabs sooner may cause risk of pulling out the follicles with the scabs. So wait a few more days and pick on them after shower when they get a bit looser.

Answer: 6 days Do not pick off crusts (scabs) at this time as they are connecto to the grafts and will pull out the grafts. Washinig your hair is the way to get these crusts off but now that they lasted more than a day, it may take a week or more of constant washing to get them off
