I had forehead reduction surgery and ended up getting a staph infection. Any suggestions?

I need some reassurance and a second opinion ast to how to care for this wound to have it in optimal shape for stitches next Thursday. I asked my surgeon if he would pick off the scab and then stitch it he said yes. I'm frighten it will be to dry and crusted and too late to stitch.
