Is this lipedema or just some extra skin? (Photo)

Question

Hello. I'm 22 years old. Height - 160 cm, weight - 47 kg. Something is wrong with my legs. I feel heaviness (if i am standing). My skin looks weird (puffy and flabby). I feel pain, which i can describe like "inflammation". But it almost go away if i am laying/swimming. Many doctors told me that i am skinny. They say that my pain could be neurological. My question is: do i need any surgery? I guess that lipedema operations is not available in my country. Can LPG or laser lipo help me?

You do not have Lipedema. You do have some loose skin which can respond to non surgical treatment like Thermi Tight or Thermage. Your pain could be neurological and you should consult a primary care physician / neurologist for this. All The Best !

Lipedema is a very underdiagnosed condition in the US and the world. This is mainly from a lack of understanding. There are a lot of symptoms and differences from just weight gain. However, I would need to understand a lot more about your particular case. As an FYI, there is a small group of us that is working very closely with the lipedema community to educate as well as develop Standard of Care Guidelines for the US.

You don't have lipedema and won't benefit from any surgical procedures. I would discuss your concerns with your primary care doctor. They will help you determine the cause of symptoms that you are experiencing.

No, this doesn't look like lipedema. If your symptoms persist, I recommend following up with your Doctor for a formal evaluation. You may have some skin laxity. For skin tightening, skin tightening can be done with a combination of vanquish, venus legacy, exilis, celllutone/Zwave.

You do not have lipedema.  If you recently lost weight you may have skin laxity because of that.  I don't think you are a candidate for liposuction.  If there is concern regarding skin elasticity or neurological issues, I would get evaluated by a good primary care doctor as a starting point.  Good luck!
