Hello, I am not sure if i have lipedema or just stubborn fat but for all my life my knees and calves/ankles had a swollen look. I am looking to improve the appearance of my legs, mostly focusing on my knees. I am a 27 y.o, 162cm, 50kg with no kids. Would liposuction help? Is it perhaps an overkill? What are the alternatives?
I am a mom of 4 kids and I am 44 years old. I work full time as a SPED Paraeducator so I am always on my feet. I have pretty severe lipedema which now is becoming lympholipedema. The pain and swelling in my legs is constant and is getting worse. I am scared of losing the use of my legs. The adipose fat is on top of my knees and it is painful. I need surgery desperately. Is there any doctor who will please help me?!
I am a 19 yr old female and am curious if I seem to have lipedema. In the past few months my thighs occasionally get a little sensations through them which I am assuming is because of dehydration (I am currently on Spironolactone for PCOS). No one in my family has had lipedema from what I know and have been told. My thighs have always been fuller, I lost weight last year (2nd lost a lot from my legs but I became underweight and have been gaining the weight back slightly (i lost 20 ibs total). I guess I bruise kinda easy but thats how I have always been lol.
I was diagnosed with lipedema a few years ago and it is stage 2 and moving into stage 3. It is getting harder and harder to move around and do even simple tasks. I am afraid of eventually being disabled...I am only 48. My doctor would like me to consider a form of liposuction that has proven successful for other people with my condition. Since my liposuction would be considered a medical necessity, is it covered by insurance? What type of documentation do I need to present to my insurance?
For lipedema liposuction in a patient with a normal BMI (under 21), what percentage of fat/fluids/blood can be removed safely ? Is it unlimited if in a hospital setting even if the patients BMI is normal since they have thicker legs from lipedema? Or even if its in a hospital, is it dangerous at a certain percentage of fat removed? For example, 6+ liters on someone 190 pounds vs 6 liters on 110 pounds. Does it matter if its lipedema liposuction? Can a smaller weight get high volume?
Hi doctors! I am 55, 24 years old. 1 year ago I noticed my ankles getting swollen. I didnt think anything of it so I didnt research or see a doctor. Now its progressively worse and I dont understand what it is. I saw 2 vascular surgeons at MGH and they couldnt tell me whats wrong. Can you help? I have IBS-C and used to take laxatives (which cause fluid retention) but unsure if related. Do I need lipo? Or what is going on here? Thank you.
I found out I have lipoedema. It's uncomfortable and swollen. I would like to liposuction on my full legs & bottom. For me, there would be health & cosmetic benefits. I spoke to a surgeon who said can do Vaser Lipo in 1session. My concern is that I read it has to be a special sort of Lipo for lipedema as they have to be careful not to damage the lymph system which irreparable. Is this true or will any Vaser do? Do I need a lipedema expert or is an experienced surgeon enough?
Hello, I am 110 pounds (BMI 20.8) and will be getting HIGH volume liposuction to my legs (6, 7, 8, 10 liters?) This will require an overnight stay. How can I combat hypotensive episodes in the weeks following liposuction other than stay hydrated? World salt tablets be recommended? Im afraid my BP will tank with so many liters removed so I want to make sure I dont pass out. I have lipedema for reference. Thank you.
I have lipedema & will be getting lipo/skin removal to my arms, legs, & stomach. I lost a lot of weight & have a lot of loose skin. Im 51 & 111 lbs; BMI 21.0. Im having a difficult time mentally accepting the fact Im still considered a high volume/bariatric pt at 111 lbs. Will liposuction and skin removal make a difference if Im still fat at 111 lbs? Thighs- 20in, calf 14.5, upper arms 12 in, and waist 25/26 in. Having doubts lipo/skin removal will make me proportionate..
Hi, I am getting liposuction for lipedema & will be considered HIGH volume (more than 5 L) to my legs I think (51, 120 lbs). I know that 1 L = 2.2lbs but fat does not weigh as much as water. So, if 65% of 1 L extracted is pure fat (and the other content is blood/fluid), it would technically be 1.43 lbs of fat but since fat is not dense, how much in lbs would .65% of a liter of pure fat equate to? If I measure a L of cotton and a L of water, its not the same weight even though 1 L= 2.2
