4 month post op rhinoplasty and I having problems with my turbulence

Question

I wanted to know if swelling of the turbulence is common after rhinoplasty cause I never had this problem before. And does it goes away

Thank you for your question. It is important to have an examination inside the nose to see if there may be a cause of breathing difficulty before or after surgery.

If there is noisy nasal breathing, you should bring this to the attention of your surgeon, and visit him for an evaluation. Typically, people achieve their best nasal breathing around 3 to 4 months postoperative. Wishing you well moving forward. Sincerely, Dr. Joseph

Swelling of turbinates can certainly occur after rhinoplasty along with swelling of the entire nose. This can also happen with a change in the weather or change of the season. This can last anywhere between 12-18 months after surgery. This may improve spontaneously, but often times a nasal steroid spray like flonase, nasocort, etc. taken twice daily every day for 4-6 weeks can help this get better more quickly. If there is no improvement with the sprays sometimes you may need the turbinates to be reduced surgically. Hope this helps!

Breathing problems can result from enlarged turbinates after surgery in some cases. I routinely reduce the turbinates to avoid this. The other solution is to inject them with steroids to reduce them

Having rhinoplasty surgery by itself, should not create turbinate swelling.
I suggest you follow up with your provider or schedule an in person consultation with a local otorhinolaryngologist.
