I had a mass removed from my thyroid in November, the scar healed horribly. My doctor redid the incision in March. In March he realized my body repels vicryl suture. The scar healed neater this time, but on my last visit we noticed the stitches are still inside my body, lurking at the surface and will not dissolve. The scar is still reddish/purple and it looks like little dots underneath the skin. What are my options?

Answer: Options to remove hidden sutures from an incision
Treatment of keloids is an art. I would now avoid kenalog injections and speak to a specialist about repairing the atrophy. Best, Dr. KaramanoukianLos Angeles
Thank you for your question and the picture.
Unfortunately, the upper lip has been repaired in a misaligned manner such that the vermillion border (red part of the lip) has not been attached to the adjacent side correctly.
The main thing here is to cut through the existing scar, remove any scar...
I would begin conservatively with application of Plato's Scar Serum, light chemical peels to exfoliate pigmentation, and Melarase to avoid hyperpigmentation. Best, Dr. KaramanoukianLos Angeles
