Usually, you won't have to go on a diet right away. You can eat regularly, just avoid unhealthy food. Try to eat things that give you strength because you may be anemic after surgery. I hope this answer was helpful.  

After any surgery your doctor will suggest you follow your hunger and thirst. Usually soft foods that are easily digested will be the best tolerated.
