I had gynecomastia treatment 3 months ago and still have seroma. How long will this continue?

Persistence of a seroma can be a problem for many types of surgery. Your surgeon is doing the right thing by removing the fluid, and eventually this fluid will stop coming back. I would also advise for you to wear a tight fitted garment.

Seroma is a fairly common complication after gynecomastia surgery and is not usually serious.  Small seromas are easily managed by needle aspiration and compression garments; sometimes serial aspirations may be needed.  Limting heavy pectorals muscle activity is also important when treating a seroma.  Larger or refractory seromas may be better managed with drain placement.  Rarely, surgery may be necessary.  

Seromas occur on occasion, often following some bleeding post-operatively, and they are easily managed with serial aspiration.  If you had 2 lbs. of tissue from each side, I'm wondering if you had skin resection with drains. If the drains were removed early or if no drains were used, the seroma may have resulted from that. By now, I'm guessing this was resolved, but if not, a drain would be useful to keep it compressed down and empty. 

Seroma can be a normal complication after gynecomastia surgery, especially when you had quite a bit of tissue removed. When it occurs, the important modes of treatment are continuous compression and frequent aspiration. Larger seromas can sometimes require placement of a new drain. Follow up with your surgeon for treatment.
