Thank you for your question. As long as you are in good health and obtain a medical clearance, gynecomastia surgery can be performed. Be sure to schedule a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon.
Many men your age and older have gynecomastia surgery and do very well. As long as your health is good, you should not have any problems. Be sure to see a board certified plastic surgeon who specializes in gynecomastia. Good luck.
The answer is yes, gynecomastia can occur and be treated at any age. The main determinant of surgical candidacy is overall health status, not age. I recommend consultation with an experienced plastic surgeon.
Gynecomastia correction can be performed at any age. As long as a patient is healthy enough to undergo surgery they are a candidate. The optimal candidate is healthy and has reached a healthy stable weight (preferably with a BMI < 30). The gynecomastia should have stabilized and they should have completed puberty. 1 year of stability is usually adequate. Candidates should also undergo a thorough medical evaluation as there are a number of endocrine and pharmacologic etiologies which should be ruled out.As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).
You can have treatment for gynecomastia at any age as long as you are healthy enough to tolerate the procedure/anesthesia. The key to treatment is the quality of your skin. As we age our skin becomes less elastic and doesn't spring on back like the youngsters. Therefore, your surgeon has to treat things a bit differently so that you don't end up with significant irregularities because of poor skin retraction. Often with patients of your age (mine as well), we are willing to accept imperfections better than when we were younger. Who wants female like breasts when you don't have to live with them? Better to have a scar or imperfection rather than breasts.
Thanks so much for your question. Age is simply a number. As long as you’re healthy there’s no reason why you can’t have surgery at age 60. I think it’s very common for people who are not 20 or 30 to consider having gynecomastia correction. Sometimes you’re at a time in your life where you can more financially afford to have the surgery done. I’m sure you can expect a nice result. Good luck.
Thank you for your question. Gynecomastia in males around age 60 is very common due to hormonal reasons. Your overall health is the prime indicator of whether you can undergo male breast reduction surgery rather than your age. I would recommend an in-person consultation with a plastic surgeon that can perform a thorough history and physical examination to be sure you are a good candidate for gynecomastia surgery.Ziyad Hammoudeh, MD
It is patient health and not patient age that determines suitability for any surgery. You can have your gynecomastia surgery.
As long as you are healthy and get medical clearance, then it sounds reasonable to be able to have the surgery.
As long as you are in good health, you are a potential candidate for gynecomastia surgery. See a board-certified plastic surgeon and good luck
It is possible but unlikely for the leftover breast tissue to be regrowing, assuming you aren't on certain medications. It is more likely that there is some scarring or induration that you are feeling more now that the inital swelling is down. This should be followed closely so make sure yo...
Scar tissue will have a completely different look to healthy tissues or other glands when viewed with an ultrasound. If indeed these scar tissues are under your skin, then 2-3 months after surgery is a reasonable enough time to consider cortisone injection if the scar tissue is excessive.
Most likely, this is residual swelling after your surgery which could persist (especially if you have stopped wearing your garment for a few months) for 6-12 months following surgery. Also lumps may appear when there is scar tissue under the skin.
