I am a sensitive skin individual and healthy in all regards. take only vitamin D supplement. What foods should I incorporate in my diet to minimize bruising and swelling post surgery. would bromelain , turmeric supplements help if I start taking them 3-4 weeks before my surgery?
Answer: Exercise after Rhinoplasty Thank you for your question. You can take light walks the day after your surgery. Jogging is allowed one week after the surgery and vigorous exercise can start 4 weeks after. We don't recommend you take blood thinning medication such as aspirin 10 days before and after your operation. Herbal tea is also not recommended because it thins your blood which may result in bleeding. Best wishes

Answer: There are many things that can be done Of course, supplements will help. However, the method your doctor chooses during the surgery will affect the level of your bruising. For example, if the ultrasonic piezo instrument is used, there will be almost no bruising on your face.

Answer: Postoperative protocol Dear sweet_lavendar, I understand your concern. It is best that you consult your plastic surgeon regarding post operative care and management (i.e including massage techniques and timing) specific to your case. Your surgeon knows your condition well and has preferences on when and what to use for faster healing and recovery. Post operative care and management depends on the type of surgery performed and the technique used during surgery among other factors. It is best, however, that you follow your plastic surgeon's advice on post operative care management for a smooth and faster healing and recovery. Answer: Preparation for Rhinoplasty Good Morning! There are things you can do to prepare for your rhinoplasty. I advise my patients to avoid any herbals which may cause bleeding. You can take bromelain or arnica which can assist with bruising reduction. Eating healthy with plenty of lean proteins and hydration prepares your body to heal well. Avoiding smoking is a must before and after. After your procedure, keeping your salt in your diet low is key. Avoiding heat which may cause swelling is best. Lower body exercises which cause increases in blood pressure or straining should be avoided for a minimum of 3-4 weeks post-surgery. Hope this helps.

Answer: Decreasing bruising and swelling after rhinoplasty There has been significant research looking at how to decrease bruising and swelling during rhinoplasty. Most of them have been intraoperative factors such as lifting the head of bed 20 degrees and using corticosteroids during the operation. A newer medication, tranexamic acid, has shown significant improvement in bruising as well. For supplements, arnica and bromelain can help with the bruising and swelling. They are generally taken starting 1 week before surgery and extended to 1 week afterwards. I would caution against using turmeric, garlic, ginger, vitamin E, or omega 3 supplements because they can increase the risk of bleeding. They should be held 2 weeks before surgery and at least 1 week afterwards. Exercise can also contribute to swelling and bruising if performed too early. I would ask your plastic surgeon about their restrictions but would generally recommend waiting at least 1 month before strenuous activity.
