4 months post-op: I still have hard nodules on my abdomen and do not seem to be going away.

Question

I found the procedure extremely painful and found things like walking and sitting increased the pain. I have a high pain tolerance Pain is gone but nodules are still here. I’m scared. I’ve been massaging, drinking lots of water, and exercising. Help! I did this so I could feel more confident and now I’m insecure and I’m nervous being intimate with someone because they will feel them. How do I make them go away?

It takes 3-6 months for final results with Sculpsure. You may still have swelling. I recommend lymphatic massage along with your compression to decrease swelling. Keep in mind, a combination of treatments is needed for best results with Sculpsure. I recommend combining Sculpsure with Vanquish and Venus Legacy/Exilis Ultra treatments. However, a VASER hi definition procedure would give you the best results with fat removal and shaping for the thighs but would require more downtime. Best, Dr. Emer

Thank you for your question. I suggest that you move forward and consult with a board certified facial plastic surgeon. The SculpSure treatment should not be painful because it emits a massaging and can be adjusted to a level that is comforting. You can massage your treated areas.

Having nodules after SculpSure treatment is quite common.  Typically, those nodules will be gone by 4 months but they can persist.  Massage as you are doing is important.  Most likely these nodules will eventually resolve.

Thank you for your question. It is not uncommon to have nodules lasting longer than the 12 week period. Fat breakdown can vary patient to patient, combining massage at home to those areas along with Endermolgie treatments with your post care might help to speed up the process. We recommend 2 sessions of SculpSure 6 weeks apart for optimal results. Check in with your provider for additional post care. Obviously let you surgeon know how you are doing.

I have found Endermologie or LPG to help eliminate the nodules after CoolSculpting and SculpSure.  It is an outpatient procedure that uses suction rollers to "squeeze" the skin and lymphatics.  It feels like a deep massage and is not expensive or painful, 3-5 treatment sessions are probably necessary.  You will need to call around to find a doctor's office or med spa that offers this service.Good Luck!

Hi. SculpSure can cause nodules. Keep massaging and drink lots of water. Also, exercise regularly to help bur more of the fat.  It has only been 4 months and it take a little longer for the nodules to resolve. They will go away. SculpSure can be a little more pain for some people than for others. Use tylenol for the pain.  Remember that people will need minimum 2 treatments to get good results. Each treatment will reduce 24 % fat in the area. Good luck and be patient.

What you are experiencing is normal after Sculpsure.  You are doing everything right like massaging it and drinking lost of water. It could take up to six months to completely resolve.  I am wondering if you were retreated with the nodule there.  It is recommended to wait until the nodule is completely gone before the area is retreated.  You should follow up with the office that performed the Sculpsure and address your concerns.

Nodules should have resolved by now, perhaps investigations by your specialist are needed? Ultrasound?With time, they should resolve, using RF to help break down this tissue maybe appropriate, however we do suggest investigations before. Fiori Institute.

SculpSure patients may develop nodules in the treated area that should gradually subside in 12 weeks and may linger even longer.

it is possible to get small nodules that usually (but not always) go away. however, this can always occur with laser liposuction etc and also people have small nodules in their subcutaneous fat as part of normal living. i think you need to ask yourself if you are over-reacting, if this is making you "feel nervous about being intimate."i am not sure that you can make them go away but you should see the doctor who oversaw your  treatment. i would also add that you had far more pain than most. you should plan on doing 2 treatments, 6 weeks apart for maximum improvement. i would add that i have had the treatments done to my love handles twice, so that i would know what it feels like.hope you are feeling better soon.sincerelydavid berman md
