I went to see a dermatoligist about a mole on my nose and was told that in removing this mole i will be left with a scar because i will require stitches.

Answer: Mole removal The differential diagnosis here is non-cancerous mole (likely), angiofibroma (a non-cancerous spot) and basal cell carcinoma (unlikely, but a possibility). A shave excision should suffice - i.e. you should not need sutures. On occasion, there is persistent redness at the removal site - this is easily fixed with laser (but give it several months to heal before laser is considered. This type of lesion should NOT be treated with ablative laser - there needs to be tissue sent to the laboratory for assurance that it is not a skin cancer.Although a "scar" is expected, it should be much less noticeable than what is there

Answer: Nose moles take special attention. bumpy moles with color can be done on the nose but need a few sessions. I would shave the mole flat under local $250 and then lightly freeze the base of it in 2 sessions $100/session to help lighten up the resultant freckle appearance. That should minimize scarring and leave a very nice appearance.
