How much does PRP treatment cost for hair loss?

PRP costs vary  greatly. We charge $600 for a 22 ml blood draw. PRP therapy can be used to treat hair loss. When using it for this purpose, I would recommend seeing an experienced hair restoration surgeon who specializes in PRP for hair loss. Going to a specialist will likely lead to better results since they are experienced in this area. Regarding cost, prices can vary greatly office to office and depends on a wide variety of factors such as quality of equipment used, nutritive components added, and doctor involvement during the process. When it comes to PRP, cheaper is not always better, as the price is largely based on the cost of equipment from manufacturers. If the price is low, they may be using lesser quality products which could yield lesser results. From my experience, insurance does not cover this procedure. Keep in mind PRP therapy is done in multiple sessions to achieve desired results. Typically 3-4 sessions in a 1 year period and then yearly maintenance sessions. 

The research performed and the anecdotal evidence would suggest that thickness of hair and density can improve with PRP injections.  The number of sessions as well as the quality of PRP obtained will vary considerably physician to physician.

We do PRP injections at our practice for hair loss. It is a very specialized technique in which we separate the platelet rich plasma (PRP), which is rich in growth factors, from your own blood. We then use this to stimulate hair growth on the scalp. It is very effective and we have seen great results after about 6 months into your treatment. Cost of PRP is dependent upon skill and experience of your provider, as well as the location of the practice. Please keep in mind the importance of proper technique. It is important to see a board certified dermatologist with knowledge and expertise in this area. Although this is a quick, noninvasive procedure, it does require great skill. PRP hair regeneration is considered a "cosmetic" treatment by insurance companies. Thus, it is not covered as a medical necessity:(
Many, but not all dermatologists perform PRP hair regeneration. There may be some that deal the all important root cause, but I'm not aware of many that do. 
Most Aesthetic practices also capably perform PRP hair regeneration. I'm not aware of many that also deal with the all important root causes.
Endocrinologist are well equipped to deal with root causes, but generally don't bother with hair retention or regeneration issues unless there is an immune system issue. 
In my opinion, Integrative Medicine physicians like myself or Functional Medicine physicians are generally the most proactive at the identification and treatment of these types of root causes.

Treatments are spaced 6 weeks apart. Essentially the same spacing between treatments used for hair reduction is applicable for hair regeneration. Logic being; Not all hair is active at the same time. Different hair follicles produce and grow hair in cycles of about 6 weeks apart. 
When hair is  not active we can't kill it. If hair is  not active, we can't grow it. 4 treatments generally covers all hair cycles with minimum overlap. 6 treatments covers all cycles with adequate to optimum overlap.
Treatments have a recommend treatment cycle of a maximum of + or - one week. Get out of proper cycle, you should consider a complete restart of program if not past 4th treatment.  
Consists of a 50mL blood draw yielding approximately 7mL of 7x to 11x high density PRP.
Optimum treatment area is approximately 0.2mL of PRP per square cm. 7mL of PRP optimally covers about 35 sq. centimeters. Can be stretched out over larger area, but not recommended.
If larger treatment area is desired, one or more additional 50mL blood draws can be made at significant discount and based upon package purchased and number of additional 50mL blood draws.

It's important to note; PRP hair regeneration treats only the symptoms of hair loss. There are many factors for hair loss. It's important to address the root of the problem. Therefore, we recommend, but it is not required, to get some lab work done prior to start of or at very beginning of treatment. 
Addressing the root cause(s) of your hair loss and treating it/them will generally cost effectively both enhance your treatment, extend the life of your treatment and extend the period of time between maintenance treatments.  
Most, if not all labs we may order are generally covered by medical insurance (less any deductible you may have). If something simple is detected, we'll generally provide instructions and/or an Rx at no additional charge during treatment period. In the event of more complex issues, we will discuss personalized treatment options with you.
Social habits such as smoking or more than mild drinking, health issues such as diabetes and certain medications may have an adverse impact on outcomes.

Great question. I do recommend posting a few pictures and a thorough workup of the cause of your hair loss.  PRP stimulates the scalp: the cause of hair loss should be addressed, as well as the goals you are trying to achieve, as some patients are better candidates for grafting.  I would definitely be recommend evaluation at a specialty center (a center that treats hair loss) to determine the best course of action for your type of hair loss. I have found PRP plus nanofat, even amnion, boosts follicle growth in patients with thinning hair and no metabolic causes of hair loss. Cost varies $1500-$2000/treatment.
