A cell for hair loss? The research performed and the anecdotal evidence would suggest that thickness of hair and density can improve with PRP injections. The number of sessions as well as the quality of PRP obtained will vary considerably physician to physician.
PRP hair restoration utilizes Platelet Rich Plasma removed from ones own blood only, while PRP plus acell uses the same PRP with addition of stem cells derived from pig bladder. The growing concensus is to avoid acell since it can cause an anti-inflammatory response, allergic reactions and even cause shedding in some cases. A lot of Doctors are getting excellent results with out the addition of acell.
In my opinion, there are no studies to substantiate that Acell adds any benefit to PRP. As Dr. Paul suggested, There is a potential for untoward side effects when one adds Acell. Considering that we've been getting excellent results with PRP alone, it's not worth the risk.PRPHAIRMD.COM
I don't find Acell to be that effective. You would need a formal evaluation with a hair loss expert to determine cause and the best treatment options. I have great success in my practice using injectable progesterone and prp to the scalp. I suggest seeing a dermatologist with expertise in hair loss. Best, Dr. Emer.
Thank you for your question. Thus far, I have not seen a well designed study that compares PRP to PRP with Acell for hair restoration. I would be more inclined to add mesenchymal stem cells from your own fat than Acell but once again there are no studies comparing PRP to PRP with mesenchymal stem cells. For that matter, there are so many different PRP kits that not all PRP is created equal. I generally recommend a series of 3 PRP injections spaced one month apart and then reevaluate. Look for a provider than can provide PRP with a concentration of at least 6 fold increase of platelet concentration in the plasma versus who blood.I hope this was helpful - Dr. Moore.
Using PRP to treat hair loss is really incredible. The use of one's own growth factors to stimulate the growth of hair is not only effective but also very safe. There is no concern of allergy to oneself, growth factor rejection, or viral concern. Acell is pig bladder. Aside from not being kosher, it is totally unproven and may be frankly dangerous. There are unlucky patients who have an intense inflammatory response to Acell (since it is a foreign substance) and shed dramatically. I have seen this from patients treated in other clinics with Acell. I would avoid the Acell at this time as the upside is unproven and the risk is real. Best of luck!
PRP is platelett rich plasma and Acell ks made of pig bladder. They are both suppose to have growth factors and stimulate hair growth. PRP is plasma cells separated from your own blood. Some doctors prefer one over the other and some doctors like to combine both treatments to get more stimulants for hair growth. The only reason we would consider ACell over PRP is if the patient has small undetectable veins which would make it difficult to draw blood.
Estrogen levels considered without other levels does not offer a great deal of information. The research performed and the anecdotal evidence would suggest that thickness of hair and density can improve with PRP injections. The number of sessions as well as the quality of PRP obtained will vary ...
There is certainly an interaction between a corticosteroid and any inflammatory process.Kenneth Hughes, MD
I would wait 24 hours after so that the rush of circulation does not flush the prp out of your scalp from the workout. Make sure you go to an expert who explains post op for prp
