In my opinion, data now suggest that PRP  should be done  at monthly intervals three to four times prior  to starting a maintenance plan. In addition, I am unsure as to whether or not your PRP is being injected or it's being applied with the Derma roller.  The preferred treatment method is subdermal injections .  Utilization of the Derma roller  is a helpful adjunct. Find a PRP expert. PRP is an excellent hair regeneration treatment option for a number of hair loss and thinning indications. 
I do suggest confirming you are truly receiving PRP and not just platelet poor plasma (PPP). Have your doctor describe his PRP system or methodology for obtaining PRP, amount of blood draw, yield amount of PRP and size of area treated with PRP.
Based on what you report, we can give you an idea as to whether you're receiving  good PRP and whether its' being placed over the appropriate area for the volume of yielded PRP.
Dermal rolling won't hurt, though it is generally accompanied with a topical that promotes hair regeneration. Nonetheless, it will likely stimulate some tissue growth. 
When dermal rolling, be careful your hair and scalp is very clean. Dermal rollers do penetrate the skin and therefore an infection is possible. Rinse roller with alcohol after and prior to use. 
Better hair regeneration results are generally obtained when the PRP is microneedled into the scalp during the PRP treatment and generally with a microneedling pen that penetrates the scalp much deeper and with more micro wounds than produced by a roller.
Certainly a dermal roller can be used starting a few days post treatment with a microneedle pen. 
The protocol your doctor is employing is a variant of PRP hair regeneration. Though possibly not one that is optimized for best results.
