Misshapen implant - Is it capsular contracture? (photo)

Question

Had breast augmentation end of 2023 Late 2024 I voiced my concern to PS about change in implant shape but they said not capsular contracture Have recently undergone revision procedure for bottoming out, which seems to have exacerbated the shape issue. If not capsular contracture (apparently breast is too soft for this, although I do think if feels firmer than the other implant) what could be the issue?

This question cannot be definitively answered without a physical examination. There are times when implants can appear misshapen if the pocket has irregularities even in the absence of capsular contracture. The implant can take on the shape of the pocket and not have the ideal smooth contours. Discuss your concerns further with you surgeon. He or she would have the benefit of an examination and provide the most accurate diagnosis and any treatment options.

Your implant looks sharply defined like you have very little soft tissue over the implant.  This may represent a capsular contracture.

An examination or different photos are needed to give more information on what is occurring with your breast.  Various reasons for shape concerns can include capsular contracture, skin laxity, implant displacement, bottoming out, and others.  If you are not sure about your surgeon's recommendations you can seek a second opinion from a board certified plastic surgeon near you.

I cannot tell by this photo if you have a capsule, but your pocket is not round and shows that flatness. I would suggest placing the implant behind the muscle.

 thank you for submitting the photo but certainly multiple photos would have been much preferred to compare right and left sides.  You do not say whether this procedure was done over the muscle or under the muscle which could make a difference.  Just looking at this 1 photograph it does appear that there is a breast capsule the implant raised as there is a fold under the breast.  Without having more information it would be difficult to say but with the distortion you have it seems like there has been a capsular contraction of some type it may not be a grade 4 but I certainly would go back to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.  You may need a revision possibly even with some additional tissue like mesh or acellular dermal matrix and possibly even a pocket change.
