40 year old female got 295cc round silicone implants. I’ve been really unhappy with one of my implants and I’m wondering if anything can be done to fix it. Surgeon says they look fine and symmetrical. I really don’t see it and don’t even like looking in the mirror anymore. I think one looks oddly shaped and flat on one side and my nipple is nowhere near the middle. Please advise. Thank you

Answer: Breast shape after augmentation All breasts are different left to right before and after any surgery. There may have been some differences in shape, nipple position pre op. The implant pockets may have changed shape and position after surgery. As such, a revision may be indicated for better symmetry. Remember, they will never be 100% identical. Further discussion with your/a plastic surgeon is recommended.

Answer: Eccentric Breast Shape Yes, it is there, definitely, photos show it well. Breast tissue on that side is probably not evenly distributed over the implant. Implants may be asymmetrically positioned (one more centralized than the other). Anatomically shaped implants which have rotated may also create that appearance. Re-distributing breast tissue in a secondary operation may correct that but surgical disruption of breast gland required. Fat transfer is also a possible solution but would introduce volume asymmetry unless done bilaterally. Fixing that situation requires good physical exam to determine the cause(s).
