How can I achieve a wider nose bridge?

Question

I'm a guy and I find that my nose bridge seems too thin across for my face. I'd like to make it wider where it meets my brow ridge, and down the middle to the tip. I want more of a rectangular look to my nose as opposed to the triangular shape I have (thin at the brow ridge and getting progressively wider to the tip). I think it will be more harmonious with my face, and help create the look of more space between my eyebrows, which are somewhat close together and thick.

Thanks for your question. Yes, the nose can be widened. The best way to widen your nose will depend on your anatomy. If the nasal bones are too narrow they may require an outfracture procedure or removal of a nasal hump. In the middle part of the nose cartilage grafts can be used to widen the nose and potentially improve nasal breathing. I recommend you consult with a rhinoplasty expert in your area who can examine you and discuss the best options. It is possible to widen a narrow nose with a closed rhinoplasty procedure.  To accomplish the goal of widening the narrow nose, osteotomies are performed in the nasal bones, and  cartilaginous spreader grafts are placed underneath the concave upper lateral cartilages to widen them and hold the nasal bones in the new widened position.   A closed rhinoplasty approach accomplishes making all the required changes with all the incisions placed on the inside of the nose itself.
