I have lost 108 pounds and have maintained it for over a year and a half. I'm 5'3" tall and weight 184-186pounds. I have been to see a plastic surgeon and was told my stomach muscle were still in tack just very weak but yet I was never told a price no matter how many times I asked. I am wondering what the total price is roughly for what I'm wanting here in MN. I found one with a price of $6000 for everything in Edina but wondering if that is high or low or average.
Answer: $6000 for tummy tuck after 100+ pound weight loss? I agree with my colleagues who have stated that this is a "bargain basement" price for what should be a major skin removal and muscle repair. I also agree with Dr. Fisher that with this amount of weight loss (Congratulations!!), you may be a better candidate for a full lower body lift. Here's why . . . . . . after this much weight loss, your loose skin is not confined to the front of your body, it extends all the way around. Certainly the loose skin on your thighs, hips, and buttocks does not appear to "hang" as much as that of the abdomen, but when the front abdominal skin is tightened, what do you think happens to the sides and back? These aren't just "dog ears," they are handfuls of skin that you will grab and ask "Now, what about these?" And the answer will be a reluctant, "Well, you need more surgery to take care of that."Doing the PROPER circumferential skin removal and tightening will indeed cost more, but substantially less than two operations, times off work or social activities, and two times the (low, but present) risk! BTW, what you think needs liposuction is probably very little extra fat, but more likely loose (flabby) skin that lipo will not help, or only to a minimal degree. (See case 2 in the web reference link below for what lipo that is not needed can cause.)So do you really want a cheap price for a big operation that will fail to meet your expectations, or is it worth hearing a truthful and thoughtful analysis that will fulfill your goals and give you the results you really deserve? Sure, anything worthwhile costs a bit more, but we have been doing outpatient lower body lifts after major weight loss in our accredited in-office surgical facility for over 15 years, and I have written a plastic surgery textbook chapter on 263 cases--all outpatients, and all with substantial cost savings and more safety. Please consider a few more consultations before you decide to go with Cheap Charlie (who is probably NOT a "real" plastic surgeon if that is a complete price). Best wishes! Dr. Tholen

My recommendation is to first find the most qualified surgeons where you want the surgery performed that are board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery you trust, then compare prices between them. See the below link on suggestions on how to find the most qualified plastic surgeon for your procedure. General Factors that influence the price of plastic surgery include: 1. RealSelf has average charges for most areas of the USA.2. Type of Anesthesia - IV sedation or General Anesthesia? Will a board certified anesthesiologist, nurse anesthetist, or an RN be used?3. Answer: Tummy Tuck pricing Hello,Congrats on your weight loss. A full Abdominoplasty after massive weight loss or body lift procedure, is more extensive than average. Along with full abdominal muscle diastasis repair, supplementary liposuction to assist with contouring and very careful planning for skin removal and scar placement is key. The quality of care- before, during and after surgery is important. Your Plastic Surgeon's credentials and operating facility are important. I recommend that you book consultations with board certified Plastic Surgeons who specialise in this area and receive more than one personalised quote in order to compare the pricing and surgical plans you've been given. You should be sure that you understand fully what your Plastic Surgeon plans to do for the price you are given and be sure this matches your expectations. I agree that the price you have been quoted is low.All the best

Answer: Cost of tummy tuck Congratulations on your weight loss. You are doing great ! I agree with the other Plastic Surgeons that you must do your homework. Check the doctors credentials and see his results. Is the surgery in a hospital or surgery center or an office? Is a doctor of anesthesia taking care of you or a nurse? Is the procedure under general anesthesia or sedation? Good Luck.
